Best Chocolate Flavored Coffee

Best Chocolate Flavored Coffee

I have discovered the secret to the best chocolate flavored coffee! I make it by the cup in the comfort of my own home, but if I need to carry it to work I will brew it into my favorite travel mug and take it with me. The coffee comes in individual pods that each make a single cup. This coffee is so good that I take it with me when I travel, even if I have to take my own coffee maker to brew it! Not only that, but it is delicious either hot or cold.

The Pods

The pods I use are flat, circular, biodegradable coffee filters with ground coffee inside them. As a result of the paper filters, your coffee will not have the sludge associated with Keurig-made coffee. They look like this:

The Decaf Chocolate Fudge is the smoothest, most decadent cup of coffee I have ever tasted and I drink it black, with no sweetener. Don’t frown at the fact that there’s no caffeine; this coffee is so good that if you are like me you will want to sip on it all day long and still sleep at night!

Need the caffeine boost? Not to worry! There are several caffeinated choices as well. The Chocolate Raspberry Coffee is excellent, but there are plenty of other choices such as Chocolate Babka or Mint Chocolate.

Another good option is Starbucks Mocha Flavored Ground Coffee. (And yes, I do purchase six at a time.

My Single-Cup Coffee Maker

I have been using this Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Coffee Maker on a daily basis for over three years now. The current description says that it’s for ground coffee, but I use mine with coffee pods too.

Please note: this is not a Keurig-type coffee maker however both systems work the same way in that they force hot water through the ground coffee and into the cup. I prefer my system because you do not have to wait for the water to heat and then push the “start” button.

Here is what I love about this coffee maker:

  • Brew into a mug or travel cup (not included)
  • Settings for regular or bold coffee
  • Can be used with loose coffee grounds or coffee pods
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to clean
  • Fill your cup with water, pour it in and that’s how much coffee it makes
  • I use it many times each day and it has been going strong for over three years
  • It has a place to hang the reusable filter cup which doubles as a scoop
  • Over 5,000 positive reviews on Amazon

Need More Coffee?

If you want the option of making either a single cup or a whole pot of coffee, this Hamilton Beach Coffee Maker works either way. You can use ground coffee or pods and brew into the pot, a mug, or a travel cup. You’ll need to use multiple pods to brew a whole pot of the coffees mentioned above but if you like using pods and don’t need the chocolate, there are full-sized, unflavored ones at most grocery stores.

My Favorite Travel Mug

I absolutely love my Contigo Stainless Steel Travel Mug! It really is leakproof! I can fill it up, close the lid, and put it in my backpack without worrying! It comes in a variety of colors and sizes, but the sixteen-ounce cup fits the coffee maker nicely.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • SNAPSEAL lid technology is leak-proof when closed for on-the-go activities
  • Drinks stay hot up to 5 hours or cold up to 12 with THERMALOCK vacuum insulation
  • Easy one-handed drinking with a flip of the lid
  • Fits most car cup holders for a no-hassle commute
  • Top-rack dishwasher-safe lid; hand-wash-only stainless steel body

Cold Brew

Another thing I love about these coffee pods is that they taste good cold. When I want cold-brew coffee, I just slip a pod into my travel mug, fill it with spring water, put the lid on, and place it into the refrigerator overnight. It’s so good! If you like it stronger, use two pods.

Enjoy it your way

As you can see, there are plenty of options for a great cup of coffee without leaving your home or spending a ton of money. More often than not, I am disappointed by the price and flavor of coffee-shop coffee. For one thing, they don’t usually have chocolate flavored coffee unless they make it by adding chocolate syrup to coffee. Yuck! Trust me on this. Make your own at home and if you want it sweet or milky, you can do that yourself and get it just the way you like it.
